The Annual Meeting occurred as scheduled. In addition to the five Directors, there were seven members in attendance, plus the Assistant City Administrator, Mr. Enslinger.
The representative from the City gave a short briefing on the new solid waste and recycling system that will begin on May 3. New containers for solid waste (i.e. trash) and recycling will be distributed in the last two weeks of April. (Your old containers can continue to be used for yard waste only.) The topic that generated the most discussion was the limit on the number of paper yard waste bags. Those present urged the City to lift that limit during Spring and Fall months.
Mr. Enslinger briefed the group on the upcoming renovations at Franklin Park, which inludes a new 8' wide path, more parking, a shelter and permanent restrooms, improved play areas and better turf management (including irrigation). Work will begin this Spring and will last several months.
Finally, Mr. Enslinger outlined the City's road improvement projects, none of which directly affect any of our streets (although there will be work on Somerset Drive and parts of Roe Blvd.) Alhambra will be resurfaced and a sidewalk installed as a part of Johnson County Wastewater's storm sewer project on that street.
The Treasurer presented a summary of the Association's expenditures for the past year.
There was a discussion about plans for 2010. The Board of Directors hopes to (1) renovate the stone monuments which have deteriorated (2) repair the fountain pump that aerates the pond, (3) finish and distribute a directory, and (4) reinstate the picnic.
All of the current Directors were reelected and all officers remain the same as last year. (There are still a couple of Board positions open.)
